Should salon commission be based on the bill or on money collected?

Salon commission should be based on money actually collected: commission follows what the customer pays, and a refund is deducted in the month it happens. Paying on the bill amount means paying commission before the money is in.

Short answer: on money collected. Commission follows what the customer actually pays, and if the customer gets a refund, the commission is deducted in the month of the refund. Paying on the bill amount means paying commission before the money is in.

With other systems, commission goes out before the money comes in and you don't know. With CCS Plus, you know right away.

What's wrong with commission on the bill amount?

A very common case: a customer buys a RM1,000 package, pays RM300 today and the rest next month.

On the bill amount, a 10% sales commission is RM100 today. But the salon has only received RM300. If the customer never pays the rest, that extra RM70 is already paid out and gone.

Refunds: automatic negative commission

When a customer returns an item or gets a refund, the commission on the original bill can't just be ignored. CCS Plus automatically creates negative commission on a refund and deducts it from the staff member's commission in the month of the refund. Exchanges work the same way: the commission is reversed or deducted.

Discounts and vouchers

  • If an item has a discount, commission is based on the discounted amount, pro-rated by what has been paid.
  • When a customer pays with a Coupon, Voucher or deposit, that's a separate line and does not reduce staff commission.

Selling a package and doing the service are two different commissions

The staff member who sells a package earns sales (Sold) commission, based on money collected. When the customer comes back for a treatment, the staff member who does it earns service commission, either a fixed amount or a percentage of the package value per session. Seller and therapist each get their own share, with no double-counting and nothing missed.

Several staff on one sale

One bill can be split between several staff. Tiered commission (for example a tier at 10K and 20K) is applied to each staff member's total for the month, calculated once at month-end.

How CCS Plus helps

Commission is calculated by your rules as the bill is made. Staff see their own sales and commission every day in the Staff App, so there's no going through bills one by one at month-end, and fewer arguments.

Do this today

Pull last month's bills that still have an outstanding balance, and check whether full commission has already been paid on them.

FAQ

Won't staff feel short-changed by commission on collections?

Once the customer pays in full, staff get the full commission; it just follows the payments. Staff also care more about collecting balances.

What happens to commission already paid when a customer gets a refund?

CCS Plus automatically creates negative commission on the refund and deducts it from the staff member's commission in the month of the refund.

How is commission split between the staff who sold a package and the one who does the treatment?

The seller earns sales commission based on money collected. The therapist earns service commission when the customer comes back and the treatment is done, set as a fixed amount or a percentage of the package value per session.
