Short answer: prices can't be changed at billing; the only way to sell cheaper is a discount. Every discount needs a reason, a discount above the staff member's limit needs a password, and the system records who approved it. That way, when staff discount freely, you know right away.
With other systems, staff give random discounts and you don't know. With CCS Plus, you know right away.
Price changes are the hardest leak to trace
Many billing systems let staff change the price while billing. A RM250 treatment becomes RM180 and the report just says "sold for RM180". The original price, why it was cheaper and who decided: none of it can be traced.
Staff may mean well and want to help a regular save a little. They may be trading favours, or even taking cash on the side. Whichever it is, you don't know.
We lost 20-odd deals over this
CCS has always refused to allow price changes without risk control. That upset some beauticians, and they moved to billing systems that let them change prices freely. We'd rather lose those deals than let an owner's money leak out where no one can see it.
Four checkpoints in CCS Plus
- Fixed prices: prices are set in Settings and can't be changed while billing.
- Discounts need a reason: the only way to sell cheaper is a discount, and a reason must be chosen or written.
- Permissions per staff member: staff can't give discounts by default; you switch it on only where needed, with a maximum discount percentage.
- Password above the limit: a discount beyond the staff member's limit needs a supervisor's password, and you can see later who approved it.
| Situation | Ordinary billing system | CCS Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Staff want to sell a bit cheaper | Change the price | Discount only, with a reason |
| Can new staff give discounts? | Usually yes | Not by default; the owner decides |
| Discount too large | No limit | Above the maximum % needs a supervisor password |
| Checking discounts at month-end | You only see lower sales | You see the reason, the staff member and who approved |
How are discounts calculated?
A line discount in CCS Plus is an amount for the whole line, not a discount on each unit. Staff commission is calculated on the discounted amount, so the bigger the discount, the less staff earn too, which makes them think twice.
Check the report: who gives the most discounts?
Pull discounts by staff member and by reason, and you see at a glance who gives the most and when. Reasonable regular-customer offers or a discounting habit? The reasons tell you.
Do this today
Pull the 3 staff members who gave the most discounts last month and read their reasons. Which do you agree with, and which not?
FAQ
Can I stop staff from giving discounts at all?
Yes. In CCS Plus staff can't give discounts by default. The owner switches it on for individual staff when needed and can set a maximum discount percentage.
Why not let staff change prices while billing?
A price change has no reason and no one responsible, and afterwards you can't see the original price or who decided. A discount always has a reason, a permission level and a record.
Do discounts affect staff commission?
Yes. Commission is calculated on the discounted amount, so the bigger the discount, the lower the commission.
